Daily Devotional 6-26-20

Hey everyone, Andy here. Hey, have you ever felt frustrated at work? Maybe other folks don’t perform to your expectation, or perhaps you aren’t getting the recognition that you feel you deserve. Whatever it is, I’m sure you can relate to what I’m talking about.

It may be helpful to remember what Paul and Timothy wrote to the church in Colossae. Colossians 3:23-24 says, “Whatever you do, work heartily as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ” (ESV).

Now I know what you’re all probably thinking. Sure. It’s easy for you to say you work at a church. Well, that is true, but it’s not all I’ve ever done. Besides, you know who else works at a church? Other people.

Trust me. I know how easy it is to get frustrated.

However, I also know that I’m not working for men. I’m serving God. Knowing that brings great solace in times of difficulty.

Psalm 75:6-7 says for not from the East or from the West, and not from the wilderness comes lifting up, but it is God who executes judgment, putting down one and lifting up another.

Hey, the reward for our labors is not in this life. Our inheritance lies beyond the bounds of the earth. It’s the Lord who we joyfully serve no matter the task.

That’s about it for now. I hope you found it worthwhile and if the Lord wills it, I’ll see you again real soon.
