Daily Devotional 7-22-20

Well, good morning or good afternoon or whatever time you’re watching this. This has just been an amazing time of year. And some of you may say “Amazing? It’s crazy. We’re all locked in here. We can’t get out. We don’t know. We’re listening to the news. We’re getting this story. We’re getting that story. And we just don’t know what to do.” And the first thing I could say is stop watching the news because we’re getting such conflicting information. And what I want you to do is I want you to remember that Jesus Christ loves you.

If we go to Romans, and these are some of my favorite verses these bits sustaining me through this entire pandemic thing. If we look at Romans 8:35-36 (NASB), it says, “Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Just as it is written, ‘For your sake we are being put to death all day long; We are considered a sheep to be slaughtered'”.

What a description of today! We are going through tribulation right now. Many of you are distressed, but Jesus Christ is there. And for our sake he died, and he did it so that we might be able to be sustained through these types of times. And we knew that they were coming.

But Paul goes on in Romans 8:37-39. It says this, “But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creative thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Nothing can separate us! And if you hold onto that, that Jesus Christ is our Lord and our savior, nothing can separate us from it. Paul writes in Philippians, be anxious about nothing, but it all thanks who prayer and petition with thanksgiving, make your requests known to the Lord. And then the peace that surpasses all understanding will guard your heart in your mind in Christ Jesus. Nothing can separate us from his love, and his peace that surpasses all understanding will sustain you.

Ladies and gentlemen, Jesus Christ will get us this far in our lives and he will get us all the way home. Put your faith and your trust in him. That’s how I get through this. And that’s how you can get through us too.

May God bless you. And may you just have the peace that surpasses all understanding. Thank you. And we hope that you can be with us again tomorrow.
